Mason Greenwood’s Manchester United team-mates are reported to be ‘shocked and appalled’ after images and clips that led to the player being arrested on Sunday surfaced online.

The England international was released on bail pending further investigation on Wednesday after spending three nights in prison.

Greenwood was detained on suspicion of assault and rape, and he was arrested further on Tuesday on the suspicion of threats to kill & sexual assault.

While Greenwood is yet to be charged, many of his team-mates appear to have unfollowed him on social media after seeing the pictures and hearing the clips released by a woman.

And the Daily Mail claim that a number of Greenwood’s United team-mates are ‘shocked and appalled’ at what they saw on social media.

The Red devils are not unaccustomed to dealing with off-the-field problems given their status as the world’s biggest club but a source says they’re facing an altogether different situation.

‘Everyone is very shaken up,’ a source told the Daily Mail. This is very different to the normal things they have to deal with.’

United are likely to be without Greenwood for now. After a two-week break the club are back in action on Friday in an FA Cup against Middlesbrough, with Ralf Rangnick due to address the media tomorrow.

Jesse Lingard was blocked from leaving the club on deadline day, with United feeling after the departures of Martial, Amad Diallo and Van de Beek that they were suddenly light in wide positions.

Though Greenwood has not been charged as yet, a police statement already made it clear that his bail is pending ‘further investigation’.
