Olivier Giroud agrees terms with Inter Milan

Inter Milan officials have held talks with Olivier Giroud’s agents and agreed terms for a January transfer move, according to reports.

The France international whose Chelsea deal expires in the summer window, has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal to join the Italian giants.

However, Inter Milan have yet to agree a deal with the Blues, who are asking for between £6.8m and £8.5m.

Inter do not want to spend more than £4.3m and Olivier Giroud has other offers on the table, including one from Frwnch side Lyon, but he is keen to move to the Seria A.

Giroud has fallen behind both Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi in the pecking order at Chelsea, and the 33-year-old is said to be searching for more first-team football ahead of Euro 2020.

France manager Didier Deschamps has conceded that the striker needs to be playing more to earn a place in his team for the summer’s European Championships.

Asked if Giroud should leave Stamford Bridge, Deschamps added: “I think yes. He knows very well he cannot be content with so little time. That is not even speaking about France, that is just on him.

The French forward has only played seven times for Chelsea and scored once, in the Super Cup final loss to liverpool back in August.

However, Inter Milan will consider Llorente as an option if they are unable to strike a deal with Chelsea for Giroud and would then hope to agree a swap deal with Lazio with Matteo Politano going in the other way.
