Michael Owen makes Arsenal Premier League title prediction after Sheff Utd win

Michael Owen firmly believes that Arsenal is poised to claim a Premier League title “within the next few years.”

Mikel Arteta’s team maintained their stride at the summit of the Premier League with a commanding 6-0 triumph over Sheffield United on Monday evening.

This victory sustains Arsenal’s third-place position in the Premier League standings, trailing leaders Liverpool by a mere two points. Liverpool is set to face Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.

In the previous season, Arsenal emerged as the closest contenders to Manchester City, concluding the campaign five points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s outfit.

Owen is convinced that under Arteta’s guidance, Arsenal is on a trajectory that could see them secure their first Premier League title since 2004.

‘That’s impressive that run of results, some good teams in there, they beat Liverpool convincingly, beat Newcastle convincingly, most of the games they’re winning by two, three, four goals,’ Owen told Premier League Productions.

‘I’ve said before they’re a force, they’re a force to be reckoned with. They’re unfortunate at the moment that there’s two incredible teams in the Premier League.

‘But I’ve got no doubts about it, in the next few years they’re going to be winning a title, it’s just a matter of when.

‘We just saw their fixtures, if they can get past Brentford at the weekend and then sit back and watch Liverpool against Manchester City, somebody is going to drop points, so they’re going to be gaining on someone this weekend if they concentrate on their business.

‘Exciting times for them and of course the big one on the horizon at the Etihad [against Man City], if they can avoid defeat there then they are in serious business.’

When asked about Arsenal having an advantage in the race due to their superior goal difference, Owen said: ‘It could be – have Liverpool or Manchester City got Sheffield United to play because they might close the gap in one game!

‘It’s significant, it really is, it’s a close call this season, it’s going to go right to the wire I’m pretty sure of it.

‘It’s the oldest saying in the book, if you’ve got the best goal difference it’s almost like an extra point.

‘It’s a big night for Arsenal, really big night, okay, everyone expected them to win but to get six goals, it’s a double whammy.’
