PSG to terminate Sergio Ramos’ contract after his nightmare start

Sergio Ramos could see his Paris Saint-Germain career come to an end before he even makes any appearance according to reports from French media.

The 35-year-old defender is yet to play in front of the Parc Des Princes faithful, since his summer arrival on a free transfer after he failed to renew his Real Madrid contract.

But now he may never get the opportunity, with the PSG hierarchy considering terminating the Spaniard’s huge deal due to his ongoing injury problems.

The veteran defender has not played since May this year when he was part of a Real Madrid team beaten by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the UEFA Champions League.

As a result, according to Le Parisien, the idea of terminating the contract of Ramos is one that has entered the minds of those in power at PSG.

An early departure would mark a worrying new low for the World Cup winning defender, who is tied to the French giants until the summer of 2023 – unless PSG decide to end his stint early.

The report states how “The option of contract termination is no longer science fiction, with PSG having accepted the fact that the could have made a mistake in his [Ramos’] signing.

“The trust that some placed in the defender at the time of his signing, or even after his calf injury a few weeks later, is no longer unshakable today.”

The report contradicts claims from those at the club who have spoken about Ramos with a degree of optimism, most notably Leonardo on Friday.

The sporting director was pressed on the former Madrid player’s situation after PSG’s 2-1 comeback win over reigning champions Lille on Friday.

“We know Ramos has had an injury,” Leonardo explained. “The Spanish press are playing games, we all knew he had a problem. We know what’s happening here.”
