Reece James gives brutal response to fan asking him to sign for Arsenal

Chelsea star Reece James has offered a brutal response to a supporter asking him to join Arsenal.

The fan raised the possibility of Arsenal signing James on social media and, the 23-year-old responded.

Meanwhile, Arsenal confirmed they had signed James’ Chelsea team-mate Kai Havertz in a £65million deal on Wednesday.

But any Arsenal fans hoping James will follow the German star to north London will be disappointed after he gave a blunt response to the suggestion on Twitter.

‘I say no,’ James said in response to a supporter who tweeted: ‘Reece James to Arsenal who says no?’

Chelsea then responded to James’ tweet by saying: ‘One of our own’, with a blue heart emoji.

James moved to Stamford Bridge at the age of eight and has gone on to play 147 games for the Blues, helping his boyhood club win the UEFA Champions League in 2021.

Havertz scored the winner in that Champions League final victory over Man City but will be playing for Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal next campaign after a £65m switch to the Emirates.

Upon signing for Arsenal, Havertz said: ‘It’s super exciting for me to be joining this amazing club and to be part of the Arsenal family. This club has such a big history, and I hope we can achieve lots of things.

‘The mentality in the Arsenal squad is very high and you can feel that. That was one of the reasons why it has been so hard to play against Arsenal recently.

‘The aim is to win trophies and I’m going to give everything to do that for the supporters and everyone at the club. I’m now looking forward to meeting all the players and the staff when we come back for pre-season.’

Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, said: ‘Kai is a player of top quality. He has great versatility and is an intelligent player. He will bring a huge amount of extra strength to our midfield and variety to our play.

‘We welcome Kai and his family to Arsenal Football Club and we are all excited to start working with him when we start pre-season training soon.’
