Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos left the field for five minutes during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Eibar to answer the call of nature, according to Zinedine Zidane.
Real Madrid briefly only had 10 men on the pitch from the 73rd minute onwards after Ramos left the pitch and down the tunnel into the dressing room to go to toilet.
His sudden departure caused some confusion during the match though he did return to the pitch, and Zidane gave an incredibly blunt account of what happened afterwards.
Asked about the Spaniard’s departure, Zidane told reporters: ‘Ramos shat himself a little bit.
‘I think Sergio had to take a shit, he went to the toilet and returned in a minute.’
Real Madrid were unable to substitute Ramos as they had already used all three of their substitutions, with Nacho having replaced the injured Raphael Varane in the first half – so he left the field with 10 men remaining.
However, he returned in time to see in-form Cristiano Ronaldo grab his second goal of the game and his 33rd of the season.
The result sees Real gain three points on Atletico, though they are still four points below second spot and Atletico Madrid still have a game in hand.
