Erik ten Hag in disagreement with Man Utd board over Harry Kane transfer

Manchester United were reportedly divided about whether they want to sign Harry Kane this summer, which has led to them failing to make a move for the striker.

Kane has been heavily linked with a move to United as Erik ten Hag looks to sign a new striker this summer.

Signing a forward is their priority in the summer window and Kane took a place at the top of their transfer list.

The Red Devils have only one senior recognised striker at Old Trafford after the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo in December, with Weghorst returning to Burnley this month after the expiration of his loan deal.

Anthony Martial struggled with injuries in the 2022/23 season but is the only central forward at the club, with Marcus Rashford preferred out wide.

Ten Hag wanted Kane to fill that void in attack, but according to The Athletic, some members of the United hierarchy are not sure about signing the England captain.

Although Kane will turn 30 next month and is entering the last year of his contract, it will take a huge fee to sign him.

Daniel Levy does not want to sell Kane and wants to tie him to a new deal, despite Tottenham failing to qualify for the Champions League next campaign

And Spurs didn’t even qualify for the UEFA Europa League or the Europa Conference League and only finished eighth in the 2022/23 season.

But Kane was a superb even in a poor season for Tottenham as he scored 30 Premier League goals, second only to Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race.

Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for Kane, and at this point, a move to Santiago Bernabeu is the likeliest outcome as Levy does not want to sell to a domestic rival.

As for United, a move for Kane would blow away their whole transfer budget this summer. Ten Hag has around £120m to spend on new players and Tottenham want over £100m for the player.
