Erik ten Hag reveals player Man Utd must sign this summer

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is reportedly keen on bolstering the team’s attacking options by adding a new forward during the upcoming transfer window. This decision comes in light of Rasmus Hojlund’s recent dip in form.

Despite occupying the sixth spot in the Premier League standings, United’s tally of 45 goals from 31 matches is surpassed by 10 other teams within the league.

Hojlund, who had an impressive run of scoring in six consecutive matches from December to February, has seen a downturn in performance following a muscle injury sustained six weeks ago.

The striker, who joined the club in the summer for a fee of £72 million ($92m), has struggled to find the back of the net since his return from injury.

In response to this, Ten Hag is looking to increase the squad’s depth in the striking department.

When asked how important it would be to have a proven scorer for next campaign, Ten Hag said: “I think it would help.”

He added: “You need more options. You need double positioning in every position. Some positions we didn’t have the choices this season – the striker position, the left-back position – and that has a negative impact on the results.”

Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Manchester United is shrouded in uncertainty. Despite the financial support he has received since his appointment in 2022, the team’s performance has not progressed as expected this season.

It’s uncertain whether he will have the opportunity to sign new players in the upcoming transfer window.

Rasmus Hojlund, the 21-year-old striker, has netted 13 goals across 34 appearances in all competitions. However, it appears that ten Hag, with his roots in Ajax, is seeking to enhance the team’s offensive capabilities.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Manchester United is set to face Bournemouth on Saturday evening. They aim to revive their slim chances of securing a spot in the Champions League. With only seven matches left, they trail Tottenham, who is in fourth place, by 11 points.
