Edouard Mendy could miss Chelsea’s Champions League final against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City after suffering a rib injury in the defeat to Aston Villa.
The blues were beaten 2-1 at Villa Park but still managed to secure a place in the Premier League top four after Leicester City lost 4-2 at home to Tottenham.
Mendy, meanwhile, was forced off at the break after he collided with the post, with Kepa Arrizabalaga replacing the Senegalese keeper for the second 45 minutes.
And Tuchel says he is ‘worried’ that Mendy could miss Chelsea’s Champions League final next Saturday.
‘He fell on the frame [post] from the goal net when he landed and hurt his ribs,’ Tuchel said after Chelsea’s loss to Villa. ‘We are worried. We don’t know if it’s an impact injury or it’s more serious. We have to wait for the scans later.
Speaking about Mendy’s injury in his post-match press conference, Tuchel said: ‘He has big pain in his ribs.We need to wait until we get home and we will do some images.
‘Tomorrow we will have an update on what’s going on. ‘We have a week to prepare, and we will see if it’s possible. If it’s possible we need to push and do everything so he is in goal on Saturday.’

Meanwhile, Tuchel said Chelsea were “lucky Tottenham finished the job for us” after losing their first league away game under the German coach.
Chelsea had started the final day of the Premier League season third in the table, knowing a win at Villa would guarantee a place in the Champions League. With all matches starting at the same time on Sunday, they were on course to finish fifth at one stage.
However, Leicester went from winning 2-1 to losing 4-2 to Spurs, ensuring Chelsea, who had Cesar Azpilicueta sent off, eventually finished fourth, one point ahead of Brendan Rodgers’ side.
“We are still a young team and we try to improve them and make them learn from every game,” added Tuchel.
“We need to adjust details and we need to be spot on next Saturday if we are to have a positive outcome.”
