Scott McTominay initiated the scoring within 20 minutes after Bruno Fernandes had his penalty saved by Robert Sanchez.
On the brink of halftime, Cole Palmer equalized, steering a low-driven shot into the bottom corner after a skillful run.
In the 69th minute, McTominay emerged as Erik ten Hag’s hero once more, securing the victory with a headed goal.
However, despite the win, fans couldn’t ignore the £72 million summer signing Hojlund’s frustration with his teammate Antony.
Numerous supporters asserted that Hojlund’s irritation stemmed from the winger’s passing and the subpar decision-making of other players.
One viewer tweeted: “Lack of service for Hojlund is so so bad. Bruno playing like there’s a bomb attached the ball as usual, Antony couldn’t pass water and Garnacho shooting on site every time.”
Another added: “Hojlund might just be having two goals the whole season with Antony by his side.”
While a third said: “Hojlund constantly complaining to Antony about his failure to pass. He has a point btw.”
Securing the win places United in the sixth position on the Premier League table, trailing cross-city rivals Manchester City by just three points.
This victory provides Ten Hag with crucial breathing room as he gets ready to host Bournemouth and then take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Following the match, Sofyan Amrabat, who is on loan with the Red Devils, staunchly defended his manager.
“He is a fantastic coach,” Amrabat said. “Of course, I worked with him several years ago [at Dutch side Utrecht] and already in that moment he was a fantastic manager.
“But now, he’s one of the best in the world. He’s more experienced. He’s done a fantastic job everywhere he went. He’s a fantastic coach and we are all behind him.”
