New Real Madrid signing Eden Hazard would approve of Paul Pogba joining him at Santiago Bernabeu as he considers the Frenchman to be among the best players in the world.
Real Madrid officially presented Hazard to a crowd of around 50,000 at the Bernabeu on Thursday after the forward’s high-profile transfer from Chelsea.
The Blues could receive up to £130million once add-ons are included in what will be one of the biggest deals of the summer window.
Madrid have also signed Eder Militao, Luka Jovic and Rodrygo in recent weeks, with Zinedine Zidane willing to overhaul his team after a trophy-less campaign.
Eden Hazard was asked about the duo at his opening press conference. ‘I want to play with the best, and those you mention are the best,’ the Belgium international replied.
‘But it’s not for me to say about transfers.’
Mbappe is believed to be interested in joining Madrid this summer and supporters at the Bernabeu were even chanting for his arrival as they waited for Hazard.
Asked about Madrid’s struggles last season, Hazard replied: ‘I was very focused on the season with Chelsea. I know there have been some bad moments for Madrid, but in the past five years it’s won a lot.
‘Even the best team in the world can have a bad season, and right now it’s the time to come back even stronger and I hope to help with that.’
Reports claim United have already told Madrid to forget about signing Paul Pogba this summer window as the World Cup-winning Frenchman is not for sale.
Back in March, Pogba said that it would be a ‘dream’ to play for Real Madrid under Zidane.
‘Like I’ve always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world,’ Pogba said.
‘There is also Zidane as a coach and it’s a dream for anybody who likes football.
‘For now, I’m at Manchester. We don’t know what the future holds. I’m at Manchester and I’m happy.’
