Alexis Sanchez speaks on his poor United start

Alexis Sanchez admits he has been unhappy with his underwhelming performances for Manchester United and has found it hard to adapt since leaving the Emirates.

The Chile international has struggled to perform under Jose Mourinho after making the move to Manchester United in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the last transfer window.

Sanchez has scored just a goal in 10 games for United, and was left on the bench in their 2-0 win over Brighton in the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday.

Sanchez is currently with Chile’s national team ahead of their friendly match with Sweden but the Chilean admits he had thought about skipping the international break.

‘As I am self-demanding, I expected something better,’ Sanchez said.

‘After my arrival at United, it was hard to change everything very quickly.

‘I even hesitated to come here [with the national team], I had asked permission to miss these games, but then I thought better and spoke with Claudio and told him that we should all be united to start things well.

‘The change of club was something that was very abrupt, it was the first time I’ve changed clubs in January.

‘Many things have happened in my life that are difficult.’
