Aubameyang set to finally sign a new Arsenal deal

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is close to finally ending speculation about his future by signing a new deal at the Emirates.

According to reports, Aubameyang is close to an agreement, with his current contract due to expire at the end of next campaign.

Aubameyang is set to sign a new deal in the next few days, and the forward sent out a cryptic tweet on Sunday showing an hourglass.

But, his striker partner Alexandre Lacazette has emerged as a transfer target for Italian side Juventus.

Speculation over Aubameyang’s future has been discussed on throughout the campaign after he entered the last two years of his current contract.

The Gabonese striker scored 22 goals in the Premier League in another outstanding season for the ex-Dortmund attacker, and he netted a brace in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

Since moving to the Emirates in 2018, the 31-year-old has scored 54 goals in 85 Premier League matches.

Speaking before the FA Cup final, Alexandre Lacazette said his future at the club will not depend on Aubameyang staying or leaving.

Before emerging as a target for Juventus, he said: “Me, I’m just playing my games and finishing the season to see how it’s going to be but we didn’t talk about anything.”

“No, because we know that Auba has a lot of discussions with the club and I can’t put my future on someone else,” he replied when such a scenario was put to him.
