Carragher reacts to Ronaldo brutally snubbing Neville at Old Trafford

Gary Neville has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo after he didn’t shake his hand in the build-up to Manchester United’s game against West Ham United.

The Portuguese star went over to greet Louis Saha, who was working for Sky Sports, before his team’s game with the Hammers at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo also briefly spoke to former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp as he ran out with the rest of the squad to warm up.

But, Ronaldo blanked Neville and didn’t greet the former United player, who has previously been critical of the forward’s behavior.

The Portugal international had a quick look at Neville before running off as he prepared for United’s meeting with West Ham.

After being blanked by Ronaldo, Neville said: “We’re off the Christmas card list aren’t we?” It’s a similar incident to one that happened in August, when Ronaldo greeted Roy Keane & Neville before United’s clash with Liverpool, but didn’t speak to Carragher.

The Liverpool legend was snubbed by Ronaldo on the day and he gave a cheeky response on social media to Neville’s blank on Sunday.

Carragher said on Twitter : “Welcome to the, blanked by Ronaldo club @GNev2.” Neville responded with a laughing and handshake emojis.

Ronaldo has been in the headlines for the right and the wrong reasons in recently, but returned to the starting lineup in the Premier League for the first time in three games against West Ham.

Anthony Elanga and Maguire have also been handed rare starts, with Antony, Sancho and Lindelof all dropping out the team.

When speaking about his lineup, Erik ten Hag said: “Harry played 45 minutes so he had a good training week. Now, I think he’s ready to play and he wanted already to start on Thursday but now he’s ready.

“I think [ Cristiano Ronaldo ] played a pretty good game on Thursday; attacking-wise, defending-wise as well. We know they are different opponents but he did well as well in the team and that’s why we chose him.”

He confirmed Antony’s absence is not due to his trickery vs FC Sheriff. “He is injured – and I hope not too bad, I think not too bad and, in a couple of days, he will be back.”

Antony did not have an impactful performance during the game against the Moldovan side on Thursday, with his most eye-catching moment coming as he performed a double pirouette on the ball – before playing a pass straight out of play. Antony was substituted off at half-time for Rashford, who scored United’s second goal.
