Chelsea handed huge Declan Rice transfer boost as West Ham star makes contract decision

Declan Rice has put Manchester United and Chelsea on high alert by turning down two contract offers from West Ham United.

The Premier League midfielder was a target for the blues last summer, with Frank Lampard keen to sign the 22-year-old England international.

Rice was interested in a return to Chelsea but his hopes appeared over when Lampard was sacked by the London side and replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

However, Tuchel has maintained the club’s interest in Rice and feels the England midfielder could easily fit into his starting lineup in west London.

Manchester United are also believed to be interested in Rice, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to sign a specialist in defensive midfield in order to use Paul Pogba in a deeper position next campaign.

The Red devils could offer Jesse Lingard in part-exchange for Rice as they’re aware of their desire to sign the England player, who is valued at £20m by United.

However, West Ham are in a strong position to keep Rice  because he has three years to run on his contract but widespread reports say the player has rejected two new offers to stay with the Hammers.

Rice wants to challenge himself in the Champions League and has asked the London club to make him aware of any offers for his services.

While West Ham currently value Rice at around £100m but the player believes a fee in the region of £60million is more realistic.

Rice is not one of the highest earners at the club but his decision to reject two new offers is now down to finances as the former Chelsea academy star wants to keep his options open.
