Griezmann addresses possible Atletico exit

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has revealed he is in talks with the club, as speculations over a possible move to Barcelona continue to fill the air.

The France international’s goalscoring abilities have made him one of Europe’s hottest players.

Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have been linked with the Frenchman.

And speaking after scoring 10-man Atletico’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal in their Europa League semi-final first leg, he said:

“My future with Atletico? We are talking with the club to see what we can do,” Griezmann toldCOPE after the match at the Emirates Stadium.

Atletico were reduced to 10 men on the pitch less than 10 minutes into the game when Sime Vrsaljko received his second yellow card, with Diego Simeone also sent to the stands for a protest.

Griezmann’s goal means that Atletico are now favourites to make it to the final and the forward recognised that his strike was key.

“In the goal I arrived in the area tired after the run I had made, but I was able to score. We needed that goal.

“Am I important? [Jan] Oblak is important, [Diego] Godin is important, Gabi when he entered the pitch was important… all the players are important.”
