Harry Kane to be punished by Tottenham as he looks to force through Man City move

Tottenham intend to slap Harry Kane with a huge fine after he skipped pre-season training in an attempt to force through a move to Manchester City.

Kane first revealed his desire to leave Spurs in May and was not seen as the rest of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad returned for duty at the club’s training base on Monday, with the 2021/22 Premier League season less than a fortnight away.

The England skipper and his camp maintain that they have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in place with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy which would allow him to complete a move to the Etihad before this summer transfer deadline.

It remains to be seen whether or not Kane will join his team-mates as his club step up their preparations for the forthcoming season but he will be punished with a fine regardless, according to Sky Sports.

It’s claimed Spurs are ‘disappointed’ with the behaviour of the player, who finished last campaign with the most goals (23) and the most assists (14) in the Premier League.

Kane still has three years left on his current contract at Tottenham – which he signed back in June 2018 – and the north London side are reluctant to sell such a key asset to a direct rival.

City had an opening offer of £100m rejected by Spurs but The Sun recently claimed that Levy had changed his mind and told Kane that he could in fact join City, with a £160m deal on the cards.

It was suggested Kanr had shaken hands on an mouth-watering £400,000 contract with City as Guardiola looks to fill the void left by Sergio Aguero.

Later on Monday, Rio Ferdinand took to Twitter to speak on Kane’s decision to snub Spurs’ pre-season training and suggested the coverage would not have been so forgiving had Paul Pogba been the player involved.

‘Let Paul Pogba not turn up for Manchester United training and see how the English media and fans go mad! Helicopters and police forces out searching his location immediately,’ Ferdinand joked.

‘And I’m not saying that Harry Kane and his tactics to leave are wrong (if we are to believe what’s being said). Harry wants trophies and he ain’t getting any younger.’
