Liverpool make surprise bid to sign €25m Greek defender

Liverpool are ready to pay the €25m fee required to sign Kostas Tsimikas as they have emerged as the frontrunners to sign the Olympiacos left-back, according to recent reports in the Greek media.

The 23-year-old attracted interest from Premier League sides Sheffield United and Leicester back in January, while on Monday it was reported that Tottenham had also entered the race to sign the €25m-rated defender.

However, Greek outlet Sdna now claims it is Liverpool who are at the frontline as they seek to sign the cover and competition for Andy Robertson next campaign.

The Reds are the only team willing to meet Olympiacos’ valuation of the defender, having watched him closely in the Greek club’s Europa League games against Arsenal and Wolves.

Tsimikas’ current deal will expire at the end of June 2022 and recent reports stated that Olympiacos want €25m to sell the player this summer – a fee it’s reported that Liverpool have told them they are ready to pay.

The capture of a new left-back will end Klopp’s long search to find an alternative for Robertson with the position left vacant since Alberto Moreno’s return to La Liga with Villarreal in summer 2019.

Liverpool are set to make a world-record of £250 million offer for PSG forward Kylian Mbappe, if Sadio Mane joins Real Madrid, according to the Sun.

Mane is high on Real Madrid’s transfer wishlist and Zinedine Zidane is determined to sign the Senegalese forward in the summer window.

The 28-year-old only signed a new deal with the Premier League side just 18 months ago.

Mane signed a deal worth £150,000-a-week, which will keep him at Anfield until 2023. However, his representatives have been approached, about a possible move away from the club.
