Manchester United have rejected offer of Ivan Perisic plus cash from Inter Milan for their Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgium international is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer window and Inter Milan looks his most likely destination, but the two clubs continue to haggle over the fee.
United are reportedly willing to let the 26-year-old go for the same price they paid Everton for him just two years ago – £75m – and will hold out for exacly that amount or more.
Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter have tried to take the price down by offering Perisic as part of the deal, but United are more interested in the cash than the 30-year-old.
New Inter head coach, Antonio Conte, is extremely keen to bring Lukaku to the San Siro, so talks are set to continue, with the forward also in favour of the move.
Conte has been coy about the possible new signings he plans to make at the club, although plenty are expected this summer window.
‘I think now it’s very difficult to talk about this,’ Conte told the BBC.
‘For sure, we have a plan to try to improve the team.
‘But it will be very important for the players, it will be very important to have a great will and great ambition, me, the players and the club, to try to reduce this gap.
‘I repeat in this moment there is a sporting director to talk about this and do this question about the transfer market, about the players.’
