Man Utd approach three Mason Mount alternatives after deal stalls

Manchester United have made enquiries about the availability of three players as they consider alternatives to Mason Mount signing.

Chelsea have rejected three offers from United for the midfielder, the latest turned away on Friday which was worth £50m plus £5m in add-ons.

The Blues countered with a proposal worth around £65m, £58m plus £7m in add-ons, which the club are not willing to pay, leaving the move in doubt.

The Red Devils believe their valuation is fair and are not ready to overpay for a player who will be available on a free transfer next year.

Manchester United are now moving onto other targets with Moises Caicedo an option under consideration.

The Brighton star is expected to be more expensive having recently extended his contract until 2028 but United believe a fee of £80m would be justified for the player.

According to ESPN, enquiries have been made for two other targets in Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus and Taylor Booth of FC Utrecht.

Kudus starred under Erik ten Hag at Ajax before his move to Manchester last year and has been linked with some Premier League teams with Brighton also joining the race for his signature.

USA international Booth scored twice and provided four assists in 23 Eredivisie games last campaign as Utrecht finished in seventh place.

Ten Hag has made Mount his main transfer target having been keen on working with the 24-year-old for a number of years, having caught his eye during his loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem.
