Man Utd have shirt number ready for Jadon Sancho after £120m transfer move

Manchester United are ready to offer Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho the number seven shirt at Old Trafford in a bid to persuade him to join the club.

The Red Devils are leading the race to sign the England international and are willing to break their transfer record in order to get him.

United believed they were close to a deal at the end of last campaign but their collapse in the final weeks of the season meant they failed to qualify for the Champions League and that ended their hopes of signing the winger.

However, United have renewed hope this summer window and the Evening Standard claim the number seven shirt will be given to Sancho in a bid to convince him to move to the club.

Alexis Sanchez currently occupies the shirt but they want to sell him this summer. Should they fail to do so, the forward could be stripped of the shirt number as Sancho is seen as the future.

Chelsea are United’s main rival for Jadon Sancho and the Blues are currently above the Red Devils in the Premier League.

Lampard can point to his promotion of players like Mason Mount, Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James as proof of his determination to develop young players.

Dortmund have accepted that they will have to let him go this summer and will simply allow him leave to the highest bidder.

The German side already have a working relationship with Chelsea after the club signed Christian Pulisic for £57m last January.
