Solskjaer tells Man Utd fans to forget glory days & accept they are no longer dominant force

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United’s supporters to forget about the glory days of the 1990s, and accept they are no longer a dominant force anymore.

All four managers since Sir Alex Ferguson retired have had to contend with the weight of Manchester United’s glorious past on their shoulders.

Now, mid-table United, who visit Newcastle tomorrow, are struggling to convince they can be a top-four team.

Solskjaer said: “We’re not in the 90s now. It’s a From different era, a different group that we’re building. We know there are going to be ups and downs but I’m ready to see these boys blossom.

“There’s not many clubs with our stature that play the young players that we do. They’ve got a chance to come through and we’re sure some of these will be part of a successful team.”

The Red devils have not won away since beating Paris Saint-Germain back in March, a run of ten matches which Solskjaer is desperate to put to an end.

He said: “I do feel it’s going to come but there’s no point me talking about it. I’ll get your questions until we do win. If we don’t, we’ll get this on Sunday as well.”

United have won just two of seven league matches this campaign on the back of a woeful end to the last season, yet incredibly Solskjaer says progress is ongoing.

He added: “Sometimes when we walk off games I think, ‘we’re not doing bad here’. Sometimes there’s a gap. I’ve felt that a couple of times but not very often.”
