Wenger set to be offered job at rival club

It is reported that a Premier League club in Everton will look make Arsene Wenger their manager if sacked by Arsenal.

Wenger is under fire at the Emirates after losing three games in the space of seven days.

Last Sunday’s Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City and another defeat to the same team on Thursday and the gunners were beaten 2-1 by Brighton.

Arsenal were set to review the 68-year-old’s position at the club at the end of the season but key members of the board are said to accept that now is the time he needs to move on.

Arsenal are sixth in the Premier League, 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham and they  have already lost eight games in 2018.

But if Wenger is sacked by Arsenal, he will be offered an immediate return to England as Everton prepare an offer for him.

According to Daily Star, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has identified Wenger as the ideal candidate to take the club forward after a disappointing season under Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce.

Speaking after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton, Wenger was asked about his future at the club and said: ‘I don’t want to talk about that today.

‘At the moment, my future is not my main worry. My worry is to get Arsenal winning football games. Then we’ll see where we go from there. I’ll try and give my best as long as I am here.’

However, Wenger insisted he was capable of turning their season around saying: ‘I’ve done it before.

‘I believe a quality of manager is to try and shorten a crisis, and I believe I can do that.’

Arsenal’s next game will be against Watford at the Vicarage road.
