Man City vs Chelsea: Ian Wright predicts team to win the Champions League

Former Arsenal and England player Ian Wright has now tipped Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to win this year’s Champions League.

Manchester City will face Chelsea in Champions League final on May 29. While the blues overcame 13-time winners, Real Madrid to book a final, Guardiola’s side defeated PSG in the semi-final.

A victory for Man City will be their first ever and a third for their manager while Chelsea is going for their second Champions League title.

Manchester City have also clinched their fifth Premier League in nine years while the London club have also been in superb form since Thomas Tuchel took over from Lampard in the January window.

Tuchel’s team have already beaten City two times this campaign, once in the FA Cup and last Saturday’s 2-1 win but Wright expects another outcome in the Champions League final.

“I’m really confused simply because of the amount of players who were missing for Manchester City in the last game,” Wright told the Wrighty’s House podcast.

“I like how ballsy Chelsea played, but will they do the same with De Bruyne, Mahrez and Gundogan playing? I just feel that this is it for Man City, they have to make it happen.

“Whereas with Chelsea, we saw what happened with Frank Lampard and then Tuchel has come in and turned it around and, bang, they’re in the final.

“They seem to be going into the final with a lot more confidence even though City are all-conquering. But I’m probably still going to go with Manchester City.

“I think they have to get over the line to really rubberstamp the dominance they’ve had in the Premier League in the last few years. I think they will just get over the line.”
