Concern for Man Utd after Alex Telles tests positive for coronavirus again

Alex Telles

Manchester United defender Alex Telles could miss Brazil’s game against Uruguay on Tuesday after he tested positive for coronavirus for a second time.

Telles had first tested positive for the virus at the end of October and has already missed four matches for the Red devils as a result.

The 27-year-old joined Brazil’s squad for the international break after producing a negative test and came off the bench in his nation’s 1-0 win over Venezuela on Friday.

But the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has now confirmed that Guilherme Arana has been brought into the team after Telles tested positive for coronavirus again on Saturday.

According to The CBF, Telles is ‘no longer in a transmissive stage’, while the entire Brazil team will undergo a second test on Sunday.

But if he tests positive again, the left-back will be unable to travel with Brazil’s squad to Uruguay as they do not permit people who have the virus to enter, even if they are asymptomatic.

And, United are currently without Luke Shaw after he was ruled out for up to a month due to a hamstring injury.

Manchester United resume their Premier League campaign next Saturday as they will play West Brom at Old Trafford. The Red devils will then face Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League.
