Jadon Sancho set for ‘spectacular’ transfer as meeting held over swap with ex-Arsenal star

A recent report suggests that Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho might make a surprising return to Borussia Dortmund next month in a potential swap deal.

Sancho had been sidelined by United boss Erik ten Hag in September following a public dispute over his training performances.

Since then, the 23-year-old has been training separately from the first team, and according to The Independent, United is open to offers for him in January.

In an exclusive interview with The United Stand this week, Ten Hag confirmed that, if given another chance, he wouldn’t handle the Sancho situation differently. It seems increasingly probable that the England international has concluded his tenure with the club.

As per German outlet BILD, Dortmund is exploring the possibility of bringing Sancho back, considering his notable record of 50 goals in 138 appearances during his previous stint at Signal Iduna Park.

The catch, however, is that Sancho might have to agree to a salary reduction to facilitate the return to the German club.

The report also suggests that United could potentially receive a player, one of Ten Hag’s compatriots, as part of the exchange.

Reports suggest that talks about a potential swap deal involving forward Donyell Malen, who has netted four goals in 12 Bundesliga games this season, have gained momentum.

Allegedly, discussions between Dortmund and the player’s advisors have already taken place, and the meeting was reportedly conducted discreetly.

The Netherlands forward recently joined the SEG agency, which also represents Ten Hag, Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, and Liverpool star Cody Gakpo.

Malen, who previously featured in Arsenal’s youth teams from the age of 16 after transferring from Ajax, was once regarded as a promising talent at the Emirates Stadium.

Nevertheless, the forward didn’t secure a first-team opportunity under Arsene Wenger and was transferred to PSV in the summer of 2017, eventually making his move to Dortmund.

With the versatility to play as a center forward or on either flank, Malen presents a potentially cost-effective and ideal addition to Ten Hag’s squad in January.
