Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says his team are now starting to ‘learn’ how to play with Edinson Cavani and he hopes the relationship will grow more next campaign.
Manchester United all but confirmed a top-four finish in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
The Red devils fell behind in the first half of the game but they responded with goals from Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and a late strike from Cavani.
The 34-year-old forward had told to the club around six weeks ago that he wanted to return to south America and would not be extending his deal at Old Trafford by 12 months.
But, his form has been incredible in recent weeks and Solskjaer has been using the lure of playing in front of Stretford End in an attempt to convince Cavani to extend his stay at United.
And, speaking after the victory at Villa Park, Solskjaer let out a smile as he said he hopes to be able to select Cavani ahead of next campaign.
‘Yeah his movement and his desire to score goals [is there],’ said Solskjaer. ‘It was a great cross from Marcus. We’re getting to learn Edinson as well and hopefully we can get to use him more next season.’

Man United have just over 48 hours to prepare for the visit of Leicester City to the theatre of dreams.
The Foxes’ top four hopes are under threat after their 4-2 defeat to Newcastle and Chelsea leapfrogged Rodgers’ team into third with a 2-1 win against Man City on Saturday.
Cavani is likely to start against Leicester, though Solskjaer will have to manage his team as they also face Liverpool on Thursday.
