Chelsea to launch £80m bid for Man Utd target Jadon Sancho

Manchester United face huge competition for Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho from Premier League rivals Chelsea, who are set to submit an £80m bid for the playmaker.

The Red devils are the favourites to sign the 21-year-old England international, having tracked him for the past two years.

United were keen on signing Sancho last summer transfer window but refused to meet Dortmund’s £108 million asking price.

However, the Bundesliga side have since lowered their valuation of Sancho to around £80m and it has attracted more interested teams.

One of those includes Chelsea, with Thomas Tuchel reported to be a huge admirer of the former Manchester City winger.

Sancho was born in London and grew up as a Chelsea supporter, which could work in the club’s favour.

The midfielder is interested in a return to the UK having left Man City for Germany in 2017, when Dortmund struck a £10m deal for his services.

Edinson Cavani’s contract extension at Old Trafford means Solskjaer’s side can afford to postpone plans to sign a striker for another 12 months, meaning they can focus on signing Sancho.

Sancho would face more competition on the right flank at Chelsea, with Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi all capable of playing in the position.

However, United only have Mason Greenwood as a genuine out-and-out right winger. players like Daniel James, Rashford, Anthony Martial and Pogba have all played there but prefer to operate from the left.
