Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Juventus as Messi’s PSG move has hurt self-esteem

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo is eager to leave the club after Lionel Messi’s shock move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.

The 36-year-old moved to Juventus in 2018 in the hope of winning the UEFA Champions League with a third club but has been unsuccessful due to the Italian club’s current downward trajectory.

Meanwhile, Messi is set to win the Ballon d’Or ahead of the Portuguese star this year and his move to the Ligue 1 club also makes them favourites to win the Champions League.

According to Italian news outlet La Repubblica, Messi’s transfer has had an impact on Ronaldo’s self-esteem with the player seeking to leave after three years in Italy.

The reports claim Ronaldo is growing restless at the Serie A club with poor body language in friendlies and training sessions.

According to the Daily Mail, he is refusing to speak to Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri, further indicating his detachment and indifference towards the club.

Ronaldo was linked with a transfer move to PSG earlier in the transfer window in a swap deal which would make Mauro Icardo return to Italy.

With rumours surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s possible transfer to Real Madrid, PSG could be making way for what would be a fascinating transfer window if they add Ronaldo to their spectacular list of signings.

And Juventus are still to make any recent announcements regarding their hopes of keeping the Portugal international. However, Manc City also appear to be in the race for Ronaldo with the player keen to play for Pep Guardiola.

This comes despite Ronaldo having spent six years with fierce rivals Manchester United, where he still maintains good relations with the fanbase.

But, a deal could depend on whether City are successful in their move to sign Harry Kane, who Tottenham are unwilling to let go for anything less than £160m.

Ronaldo would cost around £25m as his agent Jorge Mendes is attempting to mediate a deal with the Premier League club.
