Solskjaer confirms Man Utd’s interest in signing Haaland

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he is interested in signing Erling Haaland for the club.

The 19-year-old is one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe after his impressive performances for Red Bull Salzburg this campaign.

Haaland has scored 28 goals in 22 appearances for the Austrian champions so far this season and is being monitored by several top sides in Europe, including Real Madrid, Dortmund and Juventus.

The Red devils are also in the race to sign Haaland and reports last week claimed that Solskjaer had travelled to Salzburg to meet with the player’s representatives.

And speaking to Norwegian television channel Viasport after United’s 3-0 victory over Colchester in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Solskjaer admitted he and the club are keen to sign Haaland.

‘He is a player I like,’ Solskjaer said. ‘We are looking for good players all the time.

‘Erling has had a good development, so he has to develop further wherever he decides.

‘I don’t need to talk so much about him, but we as a team always look for players who can complement the others we have, and then we see what we end up with.’

On Sunday, Solskjaer claimed that Erling Haaland, who he has previously managed at Molde, has already made a decision concerning his future.

And when asked what he meant when he told Haaland to follow his instinct regarding his next transfer move, Solskjaer replied:  ‘It’s the most important thing with all the players, after all, wherever they go, that they thrive where you are.’

Borussia Dortmund have also held talks with Haaland, while earlier this week, RB Leipzig confirmed that they have submitted a bid to sign the forward.
